Amy Winehouse Foundation Launched on Birthday

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch and family and friends launched the Amy Winehouse Foundation on what would have been the late singing star’s 28th birthday. The charity aims to support causes that were close to Amy’s heart. It will also provide support for youngsters who are in need due to disability, ill health, financial constraints, or addiction.

Amy’s father Mitch said: “It seemed appropriate that the focus of our work should be with young people, those who are vulnerable either through ill health or circumstance. Amy touched millions throughout the world and I know she will continue to, through the foundation.” Amy’s mother Janis also spoke about the foundation’s goals: “We want to give money to projects that make a direct and considerable difference. It is a source of great comfort to know that Amy would be proud of this and right behind it.”
