Woman’s Father Not Buried Where Cemetery Claimed

According to the criminal defense lawyers at our firm, Local 10 has been covering a story outlining an investigation stemming from Laurie Astern’s allegations that her father was not buried where services were held.

Mrs. Astern had purchased a double plot for her father and mother to rest and was horrified to find that upon visiting the site, her father’s gravesite was moved. Not only was this done without permission claims Astern, but more shocking is the fact that for several weeks she was unable to even locate a marker as to his whereabouts. Eventually a marker was located, however it appeared to be above a site that was, in fact excavated.

Astern said she later found out a state examiner following up on her complaints claims to have dug up Seymour Astern’s grave to confirm he was inside.

The cemetery eventually admitted to the fact that Laurie Astern’s father had been relocated without permission and without any religious services. “I don’t know if he’s there,” Astern said, referring to the Star of David Cemetery in North Lauderdale. “I don’t know if he’s out in the lake. I don’t know where he is.” Seymour Astern, Laurie’s father died of a rare blood disease over 15 years ago and the investigation has yielded few answers.
